Dharma Laloobhai, Managing Director, is Co-Head of International Index Equity Investments within BlackRock Global Markets & Index Investments (“BGM”) responsible for investment teams across the APAC and EMEA regions. Index Equity leverages market expertise, a deep understanding of benchmark knowledge, and technology to consistently deliver precise investment performance. 

Ms. Laloobhai has held various leadership roles, including most recently as the EMEA Head of Core Index Equity Portfolio Management. She has been instrumental in managing teams focused on equity ETF Portfolio Management and Institutional Indexing, delivering the bespoke investment needs of sovereign wealth funds, central banks, and pension fund clients across EMEA. Her expertise extends to synthetic commodities portfolio management and investment strategy for global clients, with a notable secondment in Hong Kong, focused on equity investments. She serves on the European Investments Committee, EMEA Product Development Committee and the Africa Executive Committee.

Her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is evident through her role as the Global co-chair of WIN (BlackRock’s Women’s Network) , a former member of the EMEA Investments Talent Committee and founding member and former co-chair of Women in Investments (WII) EMEA. Her contributions to gender diversity were recognized in 2022 when she was named a Future Leader in the Yahoo! Finance HERoes Women Role Model list. Ms. Laloobhai’s service with the firm dates back to 2007, including her time with Barclays Global Investors, which merged with BlackRock in 2009, where she joined as an Index Equity portfolio manager. Her academic credentials include a BComm degree in mathematics and economics and a BSc (Honours) degree in advanced mathematics of finance from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.
